Engine motion simulation in Nx siemens

A motion driver assigns motion to a revolute, slider, or cylindrical joint, or a link.

Joint motion drivers:

The default direction of the driver corresponds to the direction of the joint on which it is defined. The direction of the joint depends on the joint orientation.

These types of joint motion drivers are available:
  • None (lets you remove an existing driver from a joint)
  • Polynomial
  • Harmonic
  • Function
  • Articulation
  • Motor
  • Control
  • Profile
Note:
  • You can create an articulation driver only using the Joint dialog box.
  • You can create a motor driver only by using the Driver dialog box, only when using the RecurDyn solver, and only when the Motor Driver  check box is selected in the Environment dialog box.
  • You can create a control or profile driver only when you use the Simcenter Motion Solver.
In the solution, any stand-alone driver (which is defined using the Driver dialog box) overrides the default driver for the joint (which is defined using the Joint dialog box). A solution can contain only a single stand-alone driver for any given joint.

The stand-alone driver lets you experiment with alternative characteristics for a given joint. You can define the default driver to model the normal joint characteristics, and then create several alternative stand-alone drivers and add them to different solutions. You can then solve each solution and compare the results.

Note: Drivers connected to math functions may not solve if the function is highly nonlinear or discontinuous.

Link motion drivers:
Link motion drivers are available only with the Simcenter Motion Solver.

These types of link motion drivers are available:
  • None (lets you remove an existing driver from a link)
  • Polynomial
  • Harmonic
  • Function
  • Control
  • Profile
A link motion driver is properly defined when you define at least one motion for a degree of freedom.

When a link motion driver is activated in the Motion Navigator, the referenced links are also activated. When a link that is referenced by a link motion driver is deleted, the link motion driver is also deleted.
You can create a link motion driver on a flexible link.
